BATHROOM RENOVATIONS
Bathroom renovations: What's trending and what's getting tossed?
How much is a bathroom renovation?
So budget is a hard thing to gauge because there are so many different options for counter tops, cabinets, types of finish, hardware, and flooring. A shower door could cost anywhere from $150- $200 and up to $5,000. So to try and put a number on it would be really hard. The person's taste and how big the bathroom is and honestly what all they want to do with it is what shapes the budget. Good news is, there are so many options – and we know them all – we specialize in helping you match your vision and style to your budget.
What are the number one reasons people are doing bathroom renovations?
The number one reason is because something's broken or not working and they decide now is the perfect time to pull the trigger. It could be that they have to because the tiles are falling off the shower wall and it leaks into the room below. Sometimes there is nothing wrong they just want to update the bathroom’s look and/or functionality – more storage, replace a tub they don’t use with a walk-in shower, etc.
What are the current trends for bathroom cabinets?
It really depends on the person because anything is possible, but currently we're seeing people want whiter, brighter, more open bathrooms. People really dig a cool walk-in shower with big heavy clear glass. Showers are the new showcase feature and people what them to look really nice and look high-quality.
What are people getting rid of in bathrooms?
Old plastic shower pans and that old frosted glass are Two of the hottest items were taken out of bathrooms all the time. Again people want that clean bright look, and those old plastic shower pans start to stain – you know they just don't look clean anymore no matter how clean they are. The frosted glass looks dated and closed in feeling. Smaller tubs are also being ripped out and replaced with wide open walk-in showers.
What do you recommend for smaller bathrooms or extra storage space?
This is where we really advise our clients to look at cabinet options and shelving options that will help them maximize their space in the bathroom. There are a lot of really beautiful vanities available today that don't have a ton of built-in storage space. You can always add shelves that match the decor and provide that extra storage space if you love a vanity that's more decorative and functional. We've been doing bathroom renovations for more than 20 years and are constantly looking at different vendors and products. We'd be happy to walk you through some options that will meet your look and give you the functionality you need.
What do homeowners forget about bathroom renovations?
The number one thing homeowners forget to plan with their bathroom renovation is the fact that they're not going to have their bathroom for a few weeks! Once we get the green light from you and actually start the demo on your bathroom renovation, the timing can span over a few weeks. What dictates that timeline is largely due to the delivery of products and materials and timing of when they are installed. We have great relationships with our vendors and have the timing down to a science, but there are outside factors we just can't control.
